Hello. i was just wondering if anyone knows about natural sunscreens.
Ive been reading online about how Sesame oil supposedly resists 30 percent of UV rays, while some some other oils like coconut oil, soybean oil, peanut oil, olive oil, and avocado etc block out like 20 percent. I’m wondering if this is really true, cause as far as i’m concerned, people often apply oils (especially olive) when they are trying to tan faster…like they are used as a tanning oil…so how can be sunscreens? Are the people that apply oils to tan more just trippin? Or are the people who put on oil as sunscreen trippin?

I am looking for a natural substance i can use as a sunscreen since i have completely stopped my use of sunscreens & have almost completely stopped putting on makeup during the day.
I live in Cali & try to get out every day when there’s sun for a few hours if i can, & even tho i believe that the sun a necessity for life, i do believe that overexposure could be damaging, so i’d like to find something to put on my face & shoulders (which get the most sun) that will provide as much UV protection as possible as well as not clog my pores & cause skin problems….

So is sesame oil effective, is it okay to use on the face?

Does it make sense that oils would provide UV protection? I dont want to be doing one thing to protect myself but rather be harming myself even more… I mean, by the shininess of oil it does makes sense that it woulds shield rays but i still have a doubt b/c of the whole "tanning oil" deal.

Thank you a bunch for any advice :)

Hope you all get your vitamin D

Is the sun good or bad for your skin?

I was having this discussion with my friend. He said the sun was bad for your skin, UV radiation causing skin cancer and premature aging. His sisters wear sunscreen every day on their face no matter if it’s winter or summer.

Now though I certainly wear sunscreen at the height of summer, I don’t see how avoiding the sun althogether is healthy for you in any way. I mean, the sun provides vitamin D and though you can take supplements for that, getting it the natural way seems better to me. Then again, all the info circulating the net is contradicting so I have no way of telling who is right.

So, what is the answer? Is it good, bad or a bit of both? And why?

Evolution??? How did life begin I don't get it?

Let me say,… I do NOT beleive in Evolution,…at least NOT 100%. I just think that they are right about a lot of stuff and, wrong about a lot of other stuff.

For example,… "natural selection" this concept is just flat out TRUE. No reasonable person would challenge that. This has been proven true time and time again. And, besides its only logical.

Then, there’s microevolution. This I aslo believe. It only makes sence. Species no doubt change on a reasonable scale over time. Humans are a good example of this. Black people from Africa have darker skin to protect them for the damaging UV rays, white people have light skin so, they can metabolize vitamin D, and Eskimos are built for the cold and so on.

Then,…. there is Macro Evolution,…. this one is kinda sketchy for me. I mean I get the idea,… Fish became Amphibians, who became Reptiles, who became Birds, who became mammals and, so on,… over millions and millions of years. I mean it kinda makes sence. But, I’m just not fully sold on that one.

Then, there is the proposed age of the Earth 4.54 billion years??? I dunno where did they come up with that number,… Did they carbon date the Earth???

The big bang too,… how did an Giant explosion create the Universe??? How does an explosion make ANYTHING. Explosions destroy! They don’t create. What WAS where the universe now before they Big Bang???

And. MOST IMPORTANTLY,…. how did life begin. I get that it started with single cell organisms. But, how did we get single cell organisms????

Where did the First single cell organisms come from. Evolution itself says that " All life comes from pre-exsiting life" Well, ummmm,… ok then where did single cell organisms come from???? How???

Natural Beauty – Suncare

Understanding the pros and cons of sun exposure can be tricky. A little bit of sun is a good for way to get vitamin D which helps the body use and absorb calcium. However, too much sun can damage your skin and in worse cases cause skin cancer. Make sure to use a mineral based sunscreen if you are in the sun more than 10-15 min per day.

Ok basically, i was wondering whether there was a product/drug out their that activates the receptors in the skin cells that are to do with tanning (ultra violet light receptors). This is because, by activating these receptors, you would get ALL benefits of a natural tan. in fact it would be just like a natural tan minus the cancer and skin aging!

when i mean ‘all benefits’ i mean

1. darker skin

2. clearer skin

3. more radiant skin

basically tans aren’t just the colour of the skin, but also other enhancements of the skin. like i think vitamin D is produced as well?! but yeh i hope you get the drift that all fake tans may indeed give you darker skin but they don’t give the other benefits because they don’t activate the uv receptors!

so

1. is their a drug/product that activates these receptors?

2. does this melanin injection stuff just give you darker skin or does it do everything?!

thanks! sorry for the waffle!

sunlight on skin?

How much sunlight on the skin is too much? I heard that the sun’s UV rays are the biggest cause of aging of the skin but isnt sunlight good for the skin also? How much sunlight a day does your skin require to stay healthy and get enough vitamin D and how much sunlight can your skin take without sunscreen? if you run out of sunscreen is there any other more natural way of protectin your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays?

Would you rather be tan or pale?

I am pale. I like being pale and in return i’m made fun of for it. Half the girls in my highschool are orange because they go to the tanning bed 24-7 or lay outside all day. They always tell me going to the tanning bed is good for you because you get vitamin D, but in reality what a tanning bed is, is concentrated uv rays and isn’t natural sunlight. Also it only takes 15 minutes a day to get your daily healthy dose of vitamin D. Would you rather be pale and healthy or tan w. a high risk of skin cancer??

P.S- going to the tanning bed alot can also shrink your ovaries, meaning you won’t be able to have kids.
Alot of guys acctually prefer pale girls and if your naturally tan congrats, but i’m not and that doesnt have anything to do with getting a guy, If he doesnt like me for me screw him!

Is the sun bad or good for your skin????

I thought it gave you vitamin D (or something like that). I know it has UV rays and all that but why do people say to avoid the sun. Isn’t supposed to give you a natural glow?????

Me and my older sister have been fighting over this; She thinks that fake spray or lotion tans are bad for you and they stain your skin and go deep down into your pores and make you look horrible and orange. But I think that fake tans are better for you than natural tans because with natural tans it causes premature aging, and increases your risk of having skin cancer from the harmful UV rays, yes you do get vitamin D but you dont have to get that through the suns rays right? And not all fake tans are orange either are they because I’ve tried some before and they looked really real! My problem is that I don’t tan- I burn because Im so white that Im like translucent, and everytime I lay out I get TONS of freckles- and I don’t like that. Plus whenever I burn it hurts really bad! So should I be like everyone else and lay out in the sun or should I fake it? Thank You! :)
